OUR ECO-FRIENDLY FABRICS

OUR ECO-FRIENDLY FABRICS

At Nêge, we are committed to offering you materials that best meet your expectations, with minimal impact on the environment: Tencel™ Lyocell for our pyjamas and organic cotton for our sweatshirts.

Very soft, breathable, comfortable and durable fabrics that you will wear for a long time. For a long, long time.

The Tencel™ Lyocell of our very soft pyjamas

Tencel™ lyocell is the Austrian Lenzing Group's registered trademark for lyocell fiber. It is a cellulosic fiber produced from wood pulp.

In addition to its softness, Tencel™ lyocell has many advantages. Lyocell fibers are smooth and elastic which makes this fiber very strong and therefore durable. Lyocell has excellent moisture management and natural breathability. It is antibacterial and this makes it a perfect choice for people with perspiration problems or for people whose sensitive skin is attacked by moisture. An ideal, lightweight fabric to wear in summer and winter.

This fiber is environmentally friendly due to its manufacturing process. It is produced in a quasi closed loop process, where the natural and non-toxic solvent used to transform the wood pulp into yarn fiber is 99.7% recycled. In addition, its manufacture requires little water.

Our Tencel™ Lyocell fabric is OEKO-TEX certified, a certification that ensures no products harmful to health or the environment are used.

4 - THE THREAD

Nêge Paris - The steps to obtain Tencel

Step 1. The wood

1 - THE WOOD

Nêge Paris - The steps to obtain Tencel

Lyocell is a 100% cellulosic fiber produced from wood pulp, mainly from eucalyptus trees, which need very little water to grow. These trees come from FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) certified forests, a label that ensures that they are managed sustainably.

Step 2. The pulp

2 - THE PULP

Nêge Paris - The steps to obtain Tencel

This wood pulp is recovered directly from the bark of trees to extract the cellulose.

Cellulose is a molecule of plant origin that is found in the cell membrane of all plants and trees.

Step 3. The fiber

3 - THE FIBER

Nêge Paris - The steps to obtain Tencel

This cellulose is then transformed into fiber by dissolving it in a natural, non-toxic and non-corrosive solvent.

This solvent is continuously purified and recycled at 99.7% in order to save water and energy and not to be released into the environment.

4 - THE THREAD

Step 4. The thread

Nêge Paris - The steps to obtain Tencel

Then, it is the spinning stage: the fibers are first untangled to eliminate the last impurities. Then, they are brushed to have a regular ribbon of parallel fibers. Finally, they are stretched and refined to obtain a thread that can be wound on spools.

THE ORGANIC COTTON OF OUR COZY SWEATSHIRTS

Better known than Tencel™ Lyocell, cotton is a natural material that is also very soft and breathable.

We have chosen to make all our sweatshirts in GOTS certified organic cotton, which we have carefully selected for its comfort and softness.

A cotton cultivated in a more ecological but also more ethical way.

Organic cotton is grown without pesticides, insecticides or chemical fertilizers, and without GMOs. Organic cotton producers use natural fertilizers, which are neither toxic for the environment nor for the people who grow it.

Did you know that? Organic cotton production also consumes less water than conventional cotton production because organic soils retain water and moisture better and therefore require less outside irrigation.

GOTS certification

All our organic cotton sweatshirts are GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified.

This label guarantees the use of at least 95% certified organic fibers. At Nêge, it is 100%.

But that's not all. This label also guarantees the respect of the environment and the human being, all along the production chain of our sweatshirts. An ecological and ethical commitment.
